The final goal of this thesis is to contribute to the understanding and development of<br>multifunctional reactor technologies. The present investigation is focused on the fluid<br>dynamics of the new catalytic structured packing Katapak-SP developed by Sulzer<br>Chemtech, which combines the advantages of fixed catalytic bed reactors and structured<br>separation internals.<br>The application field of these heterogeneous reactive internals is continuously spreading<br>because reactive separation is demonstrating to be an advantageous feasible alternative<br>to traditional systems for an increasing number of processes.
