Summary
The main aim of the thesis is to carry out an investigation on an active suspension system that will be employed in the future on Maserati vehicles.
The first part of this work deals with the characterization of the active suspension by the identification of a black box model of the system.
Therefore, the frequency response of the black box model is analysed in order to catch the most relevant features of it.
Then, a lumped-parameter model of the actuator is developed.
The last part of this work deals with the integration of the actuator model in a full vehicle model that is employed to perform real-time simulations. It is evaluated the impact of the system on vehicle handling when a strategy for the control of the roll motion is adopted.
