Abstract (Inglese)
Abstract (Italiano)
Satellite communication standards require the use of advanced cryptographic algorithms to ensure the confidentiality and security of transmitted data. The AES-GCM algorithm is one of the methods used to meet these requirements. However, performance demands often lead to the implementation of such algorithms on dedicated hardware accelerators, increasing platform complexity and integration efforts. This project proposes a software solution for implementing AES-GCM using Gpu@Sat, a soft-core GPU developed by IngeniArs S.r.l., leveraging OpenCL. The objective is to evaluate performance improvements and analyze the trade-offs between hardware and software implementations. As hardware part, it has been added in the FGPA, where resides the GPU@SAT, also the Xilinix DMA and an IP core, that compute the GHASH, that helped to archived a outstanding performance in terms of time execution.
