Summary
4D-8PSK TCM standard is currently employed in satellite communication for science data in X band up to 10Mbaud. The project will start with a high-level model of the transmitter and receiver chains for science data downlink composed of Reed Solomon (239,255) encoder followed by the 4D-8PSK TCM modulator. The model of the transmitter will then be translated into VHDL, verified, and characterised on the most common space qualified FPGA devices.
Through the high-level model, the implementation loss will be evaluated.
