L’elaborato tratta il tema delle forme di mobilitazione delle donne irachene dalla seconda metà del Novecento ai giorni nostri, includendo una riflessione sulle proteste scoppiate nell’ottobre 2019. A partire da un inquadramento teorico che mira a decostruire l’universalità del concetto di femminismo, si propone una lettura che tenga conto delle molteplici modalità in cui le donne – situate all’interno di specifiche relazioni di potere – si mettono in movimento, in un’ottica intersezionale e de-coloniale. La riflessione si sviluppa, quindi, analizzando forme di agency generalmente marginalizzate dalla teoria femminista, in particolare in ambito religioso, per affermare la necessità di una concettualizzazione che tenga in considerazione forme altre di mobilitazione, in un’ottica di produzione di discorsi alternativi a quello egemone.

The paper deals with Iraqi women's forms of mobilisation from the second half of the twentieth century to the present day, with a focus on the protests that broke out in October 2019. Starting from a theoretical framework that aims at deconstructing the universality of the concept of feminism, it proposes an interpretation that takes into account the multiple ways in which women - located within specific power relations - put themselves in motion, in an intersectional and de-colonial perspective. The reflection moves on, therefore, with the analysis of forms of agency generally marginalised by feminist theory, particularly in the religious sphere. It affirms the need for a conceptualisation of feminism that takes into account other forms of mobilisation, with the aim of producing alternative discourses to the hegemonic one.
