Riassunto
In this thesis work we study both the supply chain modeling for several firms in the food market sector and the employment of such models within a Business Process Management Suite (BPMS). For this purpose, we have first analyzed one specific supply chain addressing black-cabbages growing. Second, the related business processes have been modeled using the BPMN formalism (BPMS stands for Business Process Modeling Notation). Then, making use of an “ad hoc” tool, we have transformed a chosen BPMN diagram into a BPEL (Business Process Execution Language) process, which can be executed over a BPEL engine. This last step allow us to setup the proper environment for simulating the actual business process execution, as well as the related communication actions with its business partners. Finally we can state that the reported experience has shown to be a valuable approach for the effective simulation of supply chains' behavior in the food market, and it can be regarded as a proper prototyping paradigm for medium- and small-sized supply chains.
