Riassunto
A set of silicon microneedle arrays was tested and biofunctionalized. All the aspects of the microneedles-enhanced biosensing were successfully demonstrated: the devices pierced a skin-mimicking structure, were able to withdraw fluid from a liquid reservoir exploiting electroosmosis, and were sensitive to glucose concentration through a second generation amperometric enzymatic biosensor integrated on the same chip. A disposable on-demand glucose biosensor is thus achievable.
