This thesis proposes a control strategy for a quadcopter Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) in order to physically interact with the environment, especially with humans. Science progress and robot diffusion made Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) an hot research and innovation topic. The large majority of studies on UAV is focused on carrying loads, tracking objects or humans, monitoring the environment thanks to cameras without involving unforeseen contacts. The aim of this work is the study of the physical interaction between UAV and the environment, trying to join the fields of HRI with UAVs. Literature is rich on impedance and admittance controlled manipulators that can safely and efficiently manage interactions with humans and unstructured environments. These ideas built the basis for the generation of collaborative robots that is currently very popular in the automation industry. In this work impedance and admittance control have been edited to fit with a commercial quadcopter UAV. The developed controllers have been experimentally tested even in presence of interactions with humans.
