In questo lavoro sono state studiate le prospettive di sviluppo dei porti toscani di Livorno, Piombino, Marina di Carrara e la loro possibile integrazione nella cosiddetta “Piattaforma logistica costiera”.
Partendo da un quadro introduttivo generale sull’importanza dei traffici marittimi a livello mondiale ed europeo, l’attenzione si è poi focalizzata sui tre scali marittimi toscani, con riguardo al loro inquadramento territoriale, al sistema di accesso ai porti stessi, alla loro integrazione ed evoluzione territoriale. Sono state quindi analizzati le serie storiche ed i tassi di crescita del traffico marittimo, sia merci che passeggeri. Successivamente è stata eseguita una stima della domanda futura attraverso alcuni modelli previsionali che hanno permesso di definire uno o più scenari futuri e sono stati evidenziati interventi di adeguamento infrastrutturale dove necessario. Infine, in relazione alle possibili prospettive di sviluppo, è stata considerata l’opportunità di realizzare una “Piattaforma logistica costiera” che, preservando l’identità dei tre porti, ne garantisce un ulteriore sviluppo ed una specializzazione nel mercato servito.

The following project deals with the perspectives of development of the three main Tuscany harbours: Leghorn, Piombino, Marina di Carrara and their possible integration in the so called “Piattaforma logistica costiera”.
Starting from a brief introduction referred to the importance of maritime traffics both in the world and in Europe, later it definitely focuses on the three Tuscany ports, particularly analysing their location in the area, the way to enter them, their evolution inside the territory they insist on. Then the project studies the historical series of traffics, their rate of growth both for goods and passengers. Afterwards an evaluation of the future demand has been arranged using some previsional models by which a future scenary has been defined; whenever necessary infrastructural projects have been underlined. At last, the analisys focuses on the opportunity of creating the so called “Piattaforma logistica costiera” by which, strengthening the peculiarities of each harbour ,we can guarantee a better development and a specialization for all of them.
