Il presente lavoro ha come oggetto lo studio della tradizione manoscritta delle opere retoriche di Dionigi di Alicarnasso. In virtù delle semplificazioni eccessive e, forse, arbitrarie operate nelle edizioni critiche dei cosiddetti Opuscula Rhetorica, è stata condotta un’euristica completa, che ho ritenuto di dover estendere anche ai codici delle Antiquitates Romanae e degli scritti in qualche modo attribuiti a Dionigi. La ricerca ha portato all’individuazione di diversi testimoni finora ignorati dagli studiosi; di particolare rilievo sono apparsi subito quelli riconducibili al primo dei tre gruppi in cui sono tradizionalmente divisi gli Opuscula e, soprattutto, quelli contenenti l’Epistula ad Ammaeum II. Di quest’opera il presente lavoro ha cercato di ricostruire, fin dove possibile, i rapporti intercorrenti tra i testimoni superstiti, arrivando a conclusioni sostanzialmente diverse da quelle finora comunemente accolte dagli studiosi.

Summary: The purpose of this research project is to investigate manuscript tradition of rhetorical works of Dionysius of Halicarnassus. The study of editions and critical essays of the so called Opuscula Rhetorica highlighted that sometimes excessive and, perhaps, arbitrary simplifications of the manuscript tradition of Opuscula have been adopted. For this reason I carried out a complete heuristic investigation also of Antiquitates Romanae manuscripts and other works ascribed to Dionysius. My research brings to light many manuscripts which were unknown. The result of the heuristic investigation is relevant for the manuscript tradition of Epistula ad Ammaeum II, Dionysius’ work not enough studied so far. The dissertation has tried to reconstruct, as far as possible, the relationship between manuscripts, reaching conclusions fundamentally different from those till now accepted by scholars.
