Riassunto analitico
The first part of paper focuses on the concepts of mass customization and product configurations. Mass customization aims to customer satisfaction increasing variety and customizability without a significant increase of costs and lead time. Product configuration software is the solution most manufacturing and service enterprises adopt to provide customization and thus gain business advantage. The second part is about the connection of an enterprise product configurator (and generic business software) to SAP R/3 system, together with the analysis and study of a particular staircase configurator. This configurator is going to be part of a suite of integrated enterprise business software. To connect the software to the new ERP system we implemented a connection layer based on the SAP Java Connector function library.
