Riassunto
Network virtualization (NV) refers to the process of creating a logical, virtual network that is decoupled from the underneath physical network in order to guarantee a better integration of networks and multiple virtual networks share a single physical infrastructure. Network Function Virtualization (NFV) is a cutting edge, innovative approach to deal with network architectures that exploit network virtualization concept to virtualize a physical node function into building blocks that interact to each other through communication services. Furthermore, NFV is going to play a key role in the 5G network to identify the common technical feature and separating the physical network into multiple virtual networks that can support different radio access network (RAN). For the purpose of optical network management, this thesis introduces the Restful implementation of Interfaces and Architecture version 005 (IFA005) specification of network resource interfaces 5G Mobile Transport and Computing Platform (5G-MTP) between network functions virtualization orchestrator (NFVO) and a Wide Area Network Infrastructure Manager (WIM) and the WIM per se. This study experimentally demonstrates the capacity of a 5G-MTP, proposed inside the 5G-Transformer project, to orchestrate and interconnect virtual Radio Access Network (vRAN) components, such as virtual Distributed Unit (vDU) and virtual Central Unit (vCU) in a RAN as a service (RANaaS) scenario. The specification of 5GT-MTP and WIM interfaces which is based on IFA005 is defined by utilizing a swagger tool. In addition to this, this experiment provides performance monitoring and 5G-Transformer platform capability to localize and recover a failure in the network supporting the DU-CU interface of a 5G-vRAN.
