Riassunto
Pressure rise in closed containments during accidental explosions is an important issue for the safety of nuclear power plants. Several combustion models have been proposed by researchers to close the averaged balance equations describing the combustion process. In order to simulate these turbulent flame propagations, the combustion models have to be first validated against well performed experiments.
This thesis work is focused on the comparison of different combustion models with the experimental data obtained by Becker Technologies GmbH at Eschborn, Germany, within the THAI facility. The Eddy dissipation model (EDM) is deeply investigated and attention is paid on two different corrections, the Said Borghi and one developed by the writer based on the Leading Point Concept. Further also the Lipatnikov and Eddy Break-Up (EBU) model are investigated.
