Riassunto
Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) is increasingly used as a dosimetric technique in various fields such as medical, environmental and spatial dosimetry, sediments and archaeological dating. It is a phenomenon in which the luminescence is stimulated by the absorption of optical energy, rather than the thermal one. In recent years there has been an increasing interest in the study of possible alternative materials that have a typical OSL behavior to be used in order to evaluate the absorbed dose by individuals in the personal dosimetry field. In this work a dosimeter based on calcium sulfate was produced and its luminescence properties were characterized, both in the form of powder and pellets mixed with teflon. The analysis was carried out adding to each sample different rare earth elements, in order to evaluate the difference in the emission of the signal. Finally, a crystallographic analysis was carried out using X-ray diffraction to evaluate possible variations within the crystalline structure.
