In this thesis it has been developed the analysis and modelling of an
autonomous marine robot. The vehicle has been designed with the aim to
join in a unique robot the typical characteristics of an AUV, a GLIDER
and a WAVEGLIDER . The analysis focuses on the investigation the
latter operative mode. Added masses and hydrodynamic drags have been studied with the software Seakeeper , which is based on strip
ship theory. The behavior of the robot has been modeled with passive propulsion due to
the effects of hydrodinamic wings while sailing typical Mediterrean wave
profiles. Simulations have been worked out with Matlab and results are
shown in dedicated chapter.
