Riassunto
In the present work, a code for parametric automated generation of Finite Element (FE) models for the investigation of wing system is presented.
The general aim of the code is providing a tool able to carry out time-cheap and reliable preliminary analyses, in order to create a base- line for further investigations of wing structures. The code has to be flexible and configuration agnostic, able to deal with all the possible lifting surfaces as input. The process is totally automatized: the user has to feed inputs in text files and the analysis runs.
The code is part of the Multi-Model Generator of the TU Delft and part of the PARSIFAL Project as a tool able to develop the definition of the internal structure of the box-wing system. In particular, the main task of the work is creating a code that could be used for multi- disciplinary design optimization of future PrandtlPlane configurations, by adopting a Knowledge Based Engineering approach.
This code represents a tool able to interface with higher-fidelity softwares, in order to provide a more reliable and realistic prediction of the structure of the wing system.
The first part of this work is an overview of the code structure and its capabilities.
At first, the geometry generation is presented, together with exam- ples on relevant aircraft.
Then the preprocessing phase is analyzed, from the meshing control capabilities until the generation of the FE model with constraints and loads. In this context, the code is able to read VSAERO OUT files, to attribute the loads to the structure and generate a bdf file to be run into MSC NASTRAN.
The last part of this work presents the results on the PARSIFAL reference aircraft, which is used in order to provide an example of the capabilities of the code, as well as validating its correctness by a comparison with the data available on this configuration.
