In uno scenario caratterizzato da una concorrenza internazionale sempre più aggressiva, le Piccole e Medie Imprese si sono trovate a dover cercare delle soluzioni per mantenere un buon livello di competitività.
Se da un lato molte PMI hanno trovato rimedio esternalizzando processi e servizi o delocalizzando la produzione in Paesi a più basso costo dei fattori, altre, al contrario, hanno cercato una risposta all’interno, mettendo in discussione la propria logica organizzativa in un’ottica di lean thinking.
Obiettivo della tesi è presentare il modo in cui il metodo lean viene implementato nelle PMI, in una prima fase approfondendo ciò che riferisce la letteratura internazionale in merito e in un secondo momento procedendo all’analisi dell’azienda sede di tirocinio, la AlphaOmega S.r.l.
Si andranno a presentare gli strumenti lean utilizzati e i fattori che hanno favorito il processo di riorganizzazione, che punta ad eliminare gli sprechi e, al contempo, a migliorare le performance del processo di gestione delle commesse dell’azienda sia in termini organizzativi che informatici.

In the global scenario, the international competition has become more and more aggressive, so that Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) have been faced with the challenge to find new solutions, in order to keep up with highly competitive standards.
Some SME have coped successfully with the difficult situation, both by outsourcing processes and services, and by relocating production in countries characterized by low cost factors.
Whereas, other SME have tackled with the rising critical issues, by providing answers from within, that is to say by questioning their logical organization in accordance with the lean thinking method.
The aim of this thesis is to explain how the lean method is implemented in SME. To do so, firstly, a detailed account of the international contributions of the literature on the subject is given, secondly, a thorough analysis of my internship firm, AlphaOmega S.r.l. , is provided.
Therefore, the lean instruments employed and the factors that have favoured the process of re-organization will be displayed. Namely, the purpose of this process is to eliminate waste as well as to improve the order fulfilments setting both on the organisational and data-processing level.
