Riassunto
Nowadays, most of the developed drugs are created as a multi – target compound since disease, as Alzheimer, are multi – factorials. As explained in the introduction, Tacrine was the first single drug to be developed for an anti – AD treatment, even though it was withdrawn from the market after few years, due to its strong hepatoxicity and other side effects; since then, the coupling between Tacrine and other frames, became the new approach to the treatment of AD.
Novel hybrids are the compounds studied for this presented work designed through molecular docking processes based on previous frameworks after a deep research on literature pursued by the chiefs of the research group Professor Maria Amélia Santos and Professor Silvia Chaves.
These new drugs were developed by synthesis and tested for all their possible biochemical properties as AChE inhibition, anti Aβ, Antioxidant activity and chelating capacity with iron (II) and copper (II), except for the assay in vivo which will be done in the future.
